A Cleaner Energy Pathway for Africa
A long-term initiative examining how renewable generation, energy storage and hydrogen technologies can reduce reliance on biomass fuels and expand electricity access across African communities.

Across much of Africa, access to reliable, affordable and clean energy remains a fundamental challenge — one that directly affects health, education, environmental sustainability and economic opportunity.
This initiative examines how innovative approaches — renewable generation, energy storage and hydrogen technologies — could help reduce reliance on biomass fuels, improve access to electricity, and support communities where infrastructure is limited or unreliable.
Approach
Rather than promoting a single technology, we assess each context on its own terms: what resources are available locally, what demand looks like, what can be maintained, and what the community itself wants to prioritise. The findings feed directly into our Technology Pathway and shape where projects such as Aftrak go next.
